Are you tired of paying the “Pink Price”?

You know the one. Disguise a product for men by giving it pink colors all over and then charge more for it by marketing it towards women!

Well, we took a look into the best cordless hair trimmers for women’s facial hair and found quite a few that definitely fall into that category.

There is an exception, though.

The Panasonic ES2113PC from Amazon.com women’s facial hair trimmer does look feminine, but you’re not paying any extra for that.

You can read the full review of that cordless hair trimmer here, but read on for other recommendations to get rid of unwanted hair.

How Much Facial Hair is Normal for Women?

Everybody has facial hair, and all of it is “normal”. The only thing that makes it seem like there are some undesirable areas where hair grows is because of societal pressure.

I’m not going to get into a dissertation on that subject as what we’re actually talking about is hair that some women are not comfortable with and want to remove.

That is a totally personal thing that should be respected.

In other words, there is no reason to suspect that something is wrong with you because you’re growing hair on your nose, for example.

As you get older, there is less estrogen in your body and the testosterone has a chance to take the lead. This is why you see women over menopause age with mustaches.

If you are in your 20’s and have a full beard, then there may be something going on, but that doesn’t mean it is something to worry about either.

If your excessive hair growth is relatively recent and you are also experiencing other changes, like sudden weight gain, irregular periods and a lot of acne, then you should go to your doctor and check for something like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). These changes could mean that you have some cysts growing up against your ovaries which is causing some hormonal changes.

Why Trim Your Excess Hair as a Woman?

Again, without getting too deep into the rabbit hole of societal expectations, there are a lot of different reasons to want to get rid of excess hair.

In some cases, a woman who doesn’t even really have much facial hair, for example, may just want to put her makeup on evenly.

Peach fuzz on a woman’s face makes it really hard to apply makeup.

Some women have areas like darker facial hair and feel like it distracts people when they are talking to them.

Just about every woman likes to have her eyebrows looking groomed and not wild.

As for your body, trimming a bikini area will help you find the right bathing suit that won’t look odd with hair poking out the sides.

Hair legs make it hard to wear skirts or pantyhose so many women prefer to go smooth there.

How to Get Rid of Unwanted Hair

In this article, I am just going to be talking about trimmers, but there are other products out there for hair removal.

Depilatory Creams

Creams like Nair are alkaline lotions that you out onto the area where you want to remove your hair.

They break down the proteins in the hair and basically turn it to jelly. Then you just wipe it right off.

Pros of Depilatory Creams

It works really fast. You can do this while you are brushing your teeth or drying your hair, for instance.

Usually, in less than 10 minutes or so, the work is done.

It’s really easy. As I said, you just wipe it off. Putting it on and taking it off requires almost no effort. Compared to using a trimmer or other hair removal tools, it’s mainly passive. Apply it. Wait. Wipe it off. Simple.

It’s cost effective. Compared to going for laser treatment or threading at a salon, it costs a fraction of what you would spend to get your hair professionally removed.

Cons of Depilatory Creams

Chemical burns. If you have sensitive skin or leave the cream on your skin for too long, you can do some serious damage. Chemical burns are painful and can leave scars if you are not careful. Of course, carefully following the instructions will make it safe to use, but things can happen.

They smell awful. I really, really hate the smell of Nair. Not only is it a pungent chemical odor, but there is something really off putting about the smell of dissolving hair.

It doesn’t get to the root. Since the hair is still lurking under your skin, it gives you essentially the same results as shaving would.

Home Laser Treatments

There are a number of products that use Intense Pulse Light (IPL) to kill of the hair at the root. This is a more or less permanent hair removal treatment. You’re probably not going to be able to get rid of all of your hair, but a good one can do a pretty good job.

Pros of Lasers

Very easy to use. To get rid of your hair you simply run the head of the laser over the area you want to get rid of the hair. It really can’t get any easier than that.

It’s sort of permanent. Your hair if it does grow back could take months to show up. In most cases, most of the affected area won’t regrow the hair at all. And the hair that does grow back is generally weak and fine which is harder to see. After a number of sessions, you could see permanent hair removal.

Cons of Lasers

Very pricy. Even the at home machines can cost a lot of money. It may not be worth it to do the treatments at home since you aren’t even guaranteed to have permanent hair loss.

Can’t be used on light colored hair. If you are blond, redhead or have gray hair, then you won’t see any benefit from using this technology. There is something about the melanin absorbing the light which kills the root and if your hair is fine or light in color it doesn’t work.

Threading

Using thread to essentially pull your hair out without having to pluck it hair by hair is gaining a lot of popularity.

Pros of Threading

Very effective. You are taking the hair out at the roots so it takes a while for it to grow back.

Very quick. It only takes a few minutes to do an area like your eyebrows or your upper lip. This is much faster than using a facial hair trimmer.

Cons of Threading

Expensive. You’re relying on a salon professional to do this for you and will have to pay every time you need it done. If you are going to be getting rid of a lot of hair over your body then threading is not going to get the job done and will cost a lot of money.

Steep DIY learning curve. If you plan to do it yourself, then you have to learn how to do it. Most people simply don’t get it right as it takes a lot of practice.

Shaving

There is something inherently disconcerting for a woman to shave her face like a man with shaving cream and a razor. Obviously, most women shave their legs and genitals this way, however.

Pros of Shaving

Cost effective. You can buy a cheap disposable razor and shaving cream or gel and spend less than $10 for months of shaves.

Effective. You’re really getting all of the hair when you shave. And there is no area where you can’t do it. Under the arms, the legs, the pubes and, yes, even the face.

It’s fast. You only need to lather up and then run the razor over the area. If you’re doing it in the shower, you may not even need the cream in certain areas so it is even faster.

Cons of Shaving

It can make a mess. Between cleaning up the shaving cream and spraying the shaved hair off of the sides of the tub or shower door, there is going to be some clean up involved.

Cuts and nicks and bleeding. If you’re working on thick hair or you have blemishes on the skin, you may end up with a nick or cut that just doesn’t stop bleeding.

Ingrown hair. This is especially true on your groin area where the hair can be thick, but when you use a razor, sometimes the hair can grow back and get stuck under the top layer of skin. This is uncomfortable and can lead to an infection.

Pros and Cons of Using a Women’s Facial Hair Trimmer

Using a trimmer can solve a lot of the problems inherent with the other hair removal methods. There is no perfect way to solve the excess hair issues, so each has their pros and cons. If the cons outweigh the pros for any of those other methods then you should use a facial hair trimmer.

Pros

Easy to use

There is no learning curve to using a facial hair trimmer. In most cases there aren’t even any settings to fidget with or attachments that need to be put on it. It’s just a plug and play set up.

Works quickly

You don’t have to use any shaving creams or gels. You don’t need to prepare the area you’re going to trim or shave. And you don’t need to do any post shave routine.

If you have a small area that you just noticed, you grab it and buzz. If you are using it on any other area, it still goes quickly.

Inexpensive

Even if you buy an expensive tool, it costs nothing after you’ve bought it. There are no ongoing costs except to possibly buy replacement parts. Usually that isn’t economical when we are talking about a less than $40 facial hair trimmer.

Cons

Grows back quickly

Since you aren’t getting as close as a razor and not nearly as close as plucking or threading, then the hair tends to grow back to where it is visible in just a few days.

If you have thick, black hair, then expect to see some stubble there instead of just the hair. This is evidence that you do actually shave or trim, so keep that in mind. You’ll have to use a women’s facial hair trimmer often in this case.

Best Women’s Facial Hair Trimmers

Ok, not all of these are going to exactly qualify as trimmers and could possibly be more accurately categorized as hair removal devices, instead.

But, I am going to put them under the same umbrella since they mainly work the same way.

Lavany Ladies Electric Shaver

With nice feminine touches, this is just like an electric razor/trimmer hybrid that is becoming popular with men as well. You can shave your entire body from face to toes with this ergonomic and effective cordless hair trimmer for face and body grooming.
Ergonomics

When you are going to trim and shave every part of your body, you will need to hold the trimmer in many different positions. The ergonomic shape and design makes it easy to hold in many different ways.

4 in 1 Kit

Actually it’s kind of more than a 4 in 1 system. The primary shaving head itself is a 3 in 1 as it lifts the hair to be pre trimmed to stubble. Then it is shaved by the razor right down to the skin. If you tilt the shaver on its side, then you can use the pre trimmer as an edger. If you are trimming your bikini line then this is very helpful as you just use the same tool. No need to reach for a razor!

Then you get the precision shaving head without the pre trimmers so you can shave down smaller area like under your arm.

The precision trimmer head can also let you edge or trim down areas that are harder to get to with the full width razor head.

As a bonus there is also a rotating brush to gently scrub the skin to clean clogged pores and exfoliate.

Wet or Dry

Save time by using this in the shower. Shave yourself head to toe with no discomfort since you are well lubricated in the bath or shower. You could also use it with shaving cream if you prefer even smoother gliding.

Easy to Charge

You can either use a stand or plug it in to charge. Though you can’t use it while it is plugged in and charging.

It does take a long time to charge though at 8 hours. But, you get a generous 70 minutes runtime.

Verdict

It is really nice having everything you need right at your fingertips. Why clutter your medicine cabinet or your bathroom sink when you can do it all with one tool?

The best part is you aren’t paying the “Pink Price”. Similar products for men actually cost more than the Lavany. For reference, the men’s Norelco Bodygroom on Amazon.com is more than twice as expensive and doesn’t have the same accessories.

R.E.M Spring Facial Hair Remover

Though this is not exactly a cordless hair trimmer, it does function like a women’s facial hair trimmer.

Actually it works more like threading your facial hair since it twists and pulls the hair out.

Effective

Since the REM Spring captures the hair and then pulls it out at the root, it is very effective at removing unwanted facial hair. Far more effective than with a facial hair trimmer.

It works just as well on peach fuzz as it does on thicker, darker hair.

Since it can be flexed and bent, it can get into some hard to reach areas, too.

Long Lasting Results

Since the hair is removed at the roots, it will take way longer for the hair to grow back than when you shave or trim the hair.

This is great for women with unwanted thicker hair since it won’t leave you with stubble that grows in after a few days.

Be Ready for the Ouch!

This is where many women may opt instead for a facial hair trimmer, or cordless hair trimmer for body grooming. This is painful!

Remember, you are pulling your hair out from the root. And not just plucking one hair at a time. This grabs up a small bunch of hair to be pulled out. If you are sensitive to this type of discomfort then the REM Spring is not going to work for you.

Don’t be tempted to use this on your pubic hairs unless you are a serious masochist!

Verdict

There are some really nice benefits to using this type of hair removal device. There is nothing to charge. No batteries that need replacing. No cords to plug in and can be used anywhere.

Then there is the price. For less than $20 you get a long lasting and effective tool to get your facial hair in order.

Gindoly Ladies Electric Shaver

This 5 in 1 system is a great way to take advantage of a cordless hair trimmer for women’s facial hair as well as for the whole body.
All In One Women’s Facial Hair Trimmer

You get pretty much everything you need in one small package that fits easily in a purse.

A single rotary shaver head like you see in men’s electric shavers. An eyebrow and peach fuzz trimmer. A nose hair trimmer. A detail precision trimmer. And a facial cleaning brush.

Ergonomic and Small

This is one of those cases when the woman centric design is much better than the men’s version. Usually these tools for men are quite bulky and wouldn’t be very easy for a woman to use on her parts.

The slim profile makes it easy to hold and can be maneuvered quite easily into many different positions depending on the job.

As a cordless hair trimmer you can shape the eyebrows very easily and then click on another attachment to trim your nose hairs.

The single rotary blade is great for spot trimming on the fly whenever you see some stray hairs pop up.

Wet or Dry

Use any of the attachments in the shower to save time and make it go easier on the skin if you’re shaving.

Or, if you need the extra lubrication you can use it with shaving cream or gel.

Because it can be rinsed directly under the water, it is super easy to clean.

Travel Friendly

It fits well in any travel bag or even carry on as it is very slim.

You get a full two hours of runtime so if your trip is short you don’t even need to bring the charger with you. Well, I guess that depends on how hairy you are!

It even comes with a small pouch to hold all of the attachments plus the cordless hair trimmer itself.

Great Bikini Trimmer

The precision trimmer head is great at outlining your bikini area. And then pop on the rotary shaver head to shave right down to the skin. If you decide to go full bald all over, then the rotary is very gentle on your genitals.

Verdict

As a cordless hair trimmer for all your face and body grooming needs, you get a lot in this little package.

The price is great for how much you can do with it. And 2 hours of runtime is exceptional meaning you don’t have to worry about running out of juice midway through your grooming routine. Highly recommended cordless hair trimmer!

Post Shave Care

Whether you have used a spring facial hair remover, an electric shaver or a cordless hair trimmer for facial hair, you should make sure you are thinking about your skin afterwards.

To soothe your skin, apply a good moisturizing lotion that will hydrate the skin. This is especially helpful for after you have used the shaver. Your skin will have some layers removed and will need to repair the underlying sensitive skin.

Tighten the skin with a toner if you have used the spring facial trimmer. Your skin will be very sensitive so don’t use anything alcohol based. But, toning the skin will help close up the pores quickly and get your skin back to normal. Choose something like this one from Amazon.com.

Final Thoughts

When you are tired of feeling self conscious about your excess facial hair, then choose any one of these cordless hair trimmers. These days there is really a tool for just about everything you can imagine, so it is nice to not resort to using your husband or boyfriends gear to take care of yourself.

I highlighted devices that don’t charge you more for looking more feminine than their male cousins. And, they work well on top of being economical.
